Putting lives and property at risk, a dominant form of lightning protection in the world today, Early Streamer Emission Air Terminals or ESEs blatantly misrepresent the protection that they provide. And this is easy for anyone to understand. In this video we demonstrate how the basic concept of an ESE is at odds with a modern understanding of the physics of lightning. There’s no reason to assume that launching a streamer/leader early is of any benefit.
